SUMMATIVE in Language Arts Thursday!

We have been discussing the elements of story since the first week of school, and this is your chance to prove to me that you know it!

Know the meanings of the following terms, or more importantly–know how to LOCATE these elements in a story and explain the impact!

We started a new book today called Variables and Patterns. (VP for short)

VP p. 23 # 13-16.  Write out the problem and the answer.

Poster Side 1

  • Character Conflict Web  (make sure there are 15 or more conflicts charted–both internal and external

 

Poster Side 2

  • Freytag Model of story (label inciting force, climax, resolution)
  • Make sure 5 quotations are meaningful even to someone who has not read your book (almost like a Confuciusism or a poster quote)
  • Five relevant images

Study for summative assessment.  No calcs allowed (but numberlines are allowed).  No Retakes. 

Know your rules:

Addition:  same signs:  ADD and keep the same sign

                different signs:  SUBTRACT and use the sign of the greater absolute value.

Subtraction:  Change to Adding the Opposite and follow addition rules.

Mult/div:  Same signs = positive ans; Diff signs = neg. answer.

STUDY!!!
