We are almost finished with this unit.  We will have one more checkpoint early next week on writing equations.  The summative assessment will be on Thursday.  You might want to start reviewing your notes and worksheets now.

Science Note

Let me explain the purpose of tonight’s homework.

Many students were not aware of the location of the section summaries (within the textbook).  The summaries are valuable pieces of information.  This assignment should increase awareness.

Qualitative Graphs w.s.:  There are only 5 multiple choice problems on this worksheet, but you need to carefully analyze each graph and each situation.   Make sure you check the labels on each axis to see what is being graphed.  Don’t get fooled by the shape of the graph!  Try to get all 5 right!

The test on Chapter 1 Sections 1,2, and 3 will be this Friday.  Be sure you start to prepare for the following items.

Study the Following Items

1.        Composition and characteristics of the layers of the atmosphere (review flip chart).

2.       Know the relationship between air pressure and altitude, temperature and altitude, and density of the atmosphere and altitude)

3.       Know the type of global and local winds.  Where are they located? (Hint:  latitude), Which direction do they travel?  Why do global winds follow a curved path?  Be able to explain a sea breeze and land breeze.

4.       Know the vocabulary for sections:  1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 in the Weather and Climate Textbook
