SUMMATIVE in Language Arts Thursday!

We have been discussing the elements of story since the first week of school, and this is your chance to prove to me that you know it!

Know the meanings of the following terms, or more importantly–know how to LOCATE these elements in a story and explain the impact!

  • Internal onflict
  • External Conflict
  • Exposition
  • Setting
  • Inciting Force
  • Climax
  • Resolution/Outcome
  • Point of View (all types!)
  • Foreshadowing
  • Mood
  • Suspense

BOOK PROJECTS DUE FRIDAY!

Poster Side 1

  • Character Conflict Web  (make sure there are 15 or more conflicts charted–both internal and external

 

Poster Side 2

  • Freytag Model of story (label inciting force, climax, resolution)
  • Make sure 5 quotations are meaningful even to someone who has not read your book (almost like a Confuciusism or a poster quote)
  • Five relevant images

Only two more weeks left of the five you had to complete the two-sided poster on conflict and plot! 

Graphic organizers should have already been checked by Mrs. Rzepka or me, and if not, please complete them this weekend!

One Reading Journal Due This Week!

Comeplete one 100+ word journal entry tonight or tomorrow based on your reading.  This one is a “test” entry to make sure everyone is on the right track.  It will be graded (but you will also have the right to retry if you do not do it correctly). 

USE THE SENTENCE STARTERS TO GUIDE YOUR WRITING!

THREE will be due next week, as we will start normal classroom procedures.�

Have “Plan for Success” Signed

Please sign and have a parent sign the list of classroom procedures handed out today.  This will stay in the front of your binder. 

We will be setting up binders and materials in class tomorrow (Friday), so please bring binders, tabbed dividers, and composition notebooks.
