War with Grandpa is a good book for a good laugh. There is a boy named Peter whose grandma has just passed away. So Grandpa comes to live with him. Grandpa has a leg problem, so he has to sleep in Peter’s room. Peter is mad at Grandpa, so he starts a war with Grandpa. Does Peter get his room back or does Grandpa fight back? Read this book to find out.

The Report Card by Andrew Clements

Have you ever thought grades and tests were a bad way to measure how smart you are? Well, Nora the main character thinks so. To prove what she means she gets bad grades. Which makes her parents, the school and her teachers set out to find out why she is doing this. Nora tells the librarian and her friend about her plan but no one else.

To know the rest you should read this book and find out if people will realize what she is doing and if her plan worked!

I liked this book because it was interesting and showed the importance of standing up for yourself.

Dog at the Door by Ben Baglio

After a Halloween party Mandy Hope comes home and finds a golden retriever tied to a flower pot at her door! After Mandy’s dad examines the golden for injuries he tells her that the dog is pregnant. He also tells her that her puppies are due in a few days. Mandy suspects that the dog, which they named Goldie, was stolen. Can Mandy and her friend James Hunter find the dog’s owner? Read this book to find out.

Into the Wild by Erin Hunter

When Bluestar the Thunderclan leader invites him into the clan, he accepts. On his first night there, the Thunderclan deputy Redtail dies. As Rusty, now known as Fireheart, struggles to learn the clan ways, he uncovers a shocking secret about the brave warrior Tigerclaw, later the Thunderclan deputy. This is a really good book.

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

This book is about a girl named Annemarie that helps her Jewish friend Ellen during World War II. Ellen is a Jewish girl that is going through some hard times in life during the war. Things that are hard for her such as the Nazis are looking for her, her parents are taken away somewhere they will be safe, and she goes to live with her friend Annemarie. To figure out what happens to Ellen and see if she can ever live a normal life again, you should read this book. I liked this book because it was interesting and adventurous!

This book is hilarious. It’s a combination poetry and riddle book. Each rhyming poem describes the picture on the next page. The last word of the poem is missing. You have to guess the word. You’ll be surprised every time! Look for this book in the 800’s section.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

It’s Harry’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Even before he leaves to go on Platform Nine and Three Quarters, a House Elf is in his bedroom and dropping cake on Harry’s mean uncle’s guest. When the House Elf tells Harry that Hogwarts is too dangerous for him to go back, Harry is shocked! Harry feels out of sorts at his uncle’s and aunt’s house without his new friends, Ron and Hermione, and his broom and wand locked up in a cupboard. The weird thing is he starts to think that being a wizard was just a dream because his friends haven’t written to him. Not only that, but Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia have put bars on his window and locked his door because of the incident with the House Elf.

Harry gets a wonderful surprise when Ron and a few of his brothers come and rescue him with the one and only Flying Car! When they get to Ron’s house, the Burrow, he learns about the life of a wizard. The Weasleys teach him how to use Floo Powder to get to Diagon Alley. (Floo Powder isn’t all that great, so I wouldn’t advise for small children to do it.) Once Harry’s got all his books and met the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Lockhart, no one can stop Harry from going to Hogwarts now.

Unfortunately, the House Elf was right. Weird things are starting to happen, and Ginny Weasley, Ron’s sister, is caught in the middle of it. It’s up to Harry, Ron, and Hermione to solve the mystery of the Chamber of Secrets. They are on the case! They have help from other people. Moaning Myrtle helps a lot, and even the sinister Draco Malfoy helps. They find clues like an old diary and the trail of spiders, but will they save Ginny before it’s too late? Read this adventurous book to find out.
